Yira Samuel (16 April 14 AS – 18 June 2 PS) was the female tribute from District 7 in the 2nd Hunger Games. Originally from Elmwood, she was 15-years-old and was studying to become a lumberjack prior to being reaped for the games.
In the games, Samuel was the fourth tribute to die. Unable to swim, Samuel jumped into the water surrounding the cornucopia immediately after the games began and drowned.
Early life[]
Samuel was born in Elmwood, District 7 to parents Edward and Carmen Samuel. Both of her parents work as lumberjacks. Samuel has three elder brothers: Andrew, Alex, and Daniel.

Reaping[]
At the reapings for the 2nd Hunger Games, Samuel was reaped for the games. As District 7 is not a district where children are eager to be reaped, there were no volunteers to take her place. The escort for District 7 was Deena Charleton, while the male tribute was Simeon Danger.
Opening ceremony[]
In the opening ceremony, Samuel was styled by the District 7 head stylist Otto Lieber. As District 7's industry is lumber, Lieber designed a costume for his tributes portraying them as wood nymphs. They placed 3rd out of 12.
Training[]
In training, Samuel demonstrated little athletic ability, but basic survival skills. This earned her a training score of 2.
Games[]
In the games, Samuel was the fourth tribute to die. Unable to swim, Samuel jumped into the water surrounding the cornucopia immediately after the games began and drowned. She placed 21st out of 24.
